Short Version
This site keeps basic, short-lived server logs so I can conduct analytics to guard against abuse and see whether the message is reaching people. That's the entire purpose of any data collection on this site. Your information is never sold, shared, rented, or used for advertising — not now, not ever.
Who runs thisIndependent project
advocacy.mjr.news is a personal, independent project connected to my Substack, MJR News. I run this project alone and there are no commercial analytics or advertising platforms involved.
What may be loggedBasic access logs
Like nearly every website, this site keeps a basic access log. When you visit, it may record:
- Your IP address.
- The date and time.
- The page or file you requested (including if you download one of the letters).
- The site you came from, if your browser shares it (e.g., a link on Reddit).
- Your browser and device type (the "user-agent").
- If you click a link that leaves this site (such as the link to my Substack), that click may also be counted.
What I do not doNo tracking, no cookies
No Cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
No Third-Party Tools
No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising, no social-media tracking. Fonts and images are loaded locally.
No Accounts
No forms, no email collection. You can read everything and download every letter without giving me anything.
No Fingerprinting
I make no attempt to identify or follow you across sites or sessions.
How it's usedPersonal analytics only
I use these logs for exactly one thing: my own personal analytics — to understand how many people visit, which pages resonate, how many times things are downloaded, and roughly where visitors come from. It tells me whether this advocacy is working and whether there is any abuse. Nothing else.
No Commercial useWhat I will never do
I will never sell, rent, trade, share, or hand over your information to anyone for any commercial, advertising, or profiling purpose. Ever. This is a privacy project — treating your data carelessly would betray the whole point of it.
How long it's kept14 days
Raw logs (including IP addresses) are automatically deleted after 14 days. After that I keep only anonymous daily totals — counts like "visitors" and "downloads," with no individual IP addresses.
Your choicesPrivacy tools
You're welcome to visit using a VPN, Tor, private browsing, or any privacy tool you prefer. It's respected here, it changes nothing about your experience, and I make no attempt to unmask it.
GDPRFor visitors in the EU
Where the GDPR applies, the basis for the limited logging above is my legitimate interest in security and in gauging reach. You may request details about your personal information at the email below and you have the right to log complaints with your local data-protection authority, but note that raw logs (with IPs) are deleted after 14 days, after which only anonymous totals remain.
